The Backstory
My grandmother always handwashed her delicate items and always hung everything on her clothesline to dry. And while handwashing can certainly prolong the life of your mighty pretty things, it is not always the most practical approach. Thankfully we have delicate cycles on washing machines and low temperature setting on dryers. So, my suggestion is machine wash cool, tumble dry low and press.
Taking Care
washing
We suggest using a gentle soap that contains no perfumes or dyes and always washing with cold water. Always avoid chlorine bleach as it will, over time, yellow your linens. It is also quite harsh and weakens the fibers.
drying
Always dry on the lowest temperature setting and never
completely dry. Removing your linens while still damp can help prolong their life as heat dries out the fibers. And if planning to iron, it definitely makes the task much easier.
Ironing
The best time to iron your linens is when they are still damp. Iron linens on reverse side using a well-padded ironing board. Starch is encouraged if using your linens immediately but discouraged if storing as it will yellow linens over time.
Embroidering Mighty Pretty Things
Always with a nod to tradition, Mary Mack embroidery designs are unapologetically old-fashioned yet unequivocally fresh and modern. Stitched on our favorite pieces, your mighty pretty things are intended to be used, and appreciated and loved from one generation to the next.
